A Kiwi in Hollywood - 20+ icons of Karl Urban for gents20in20

As far as it goes with all my favorite actors, Karl probably took the longest way to make it on that list - considering that I saw him for the first time almost 10 years ago, when my local TV station aired "The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers". But it should take until about two years ago to bring him to my full attention, when I saw "Almost Human" for the first time. I still have the better part of his filmography to watch, but I'm slowly getting there. Oh, and in case you should wonder about the title of this entry - Karl was born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, and as we all know, these folks usually get the nickname "kiwi" (and most of his fans call him that way, too) This set was made for the current round over at [profile] gents20in20. Enjoy!

Notes:

all images: Google Image Search/Pinterest (no copyright infringement intended)

themes: mostly photoshoots, except for:

08-plus one: Karl with his current girlfriend Katee Sackhoff ("Battlestar Galactica") at an event

06-behind: taking care of fan service at the same event

07-up: a cute moment from the Star Trek Beyond press tour

AC: As a contrast to the themes, where I focused on Karl, I chose to icon 10 of his most famous parts in movies and TV.

01-John Kennex (Almost Human): the show that served as starting point for me to be his fan. And it's still a shame that we only got 13 episodes. :((

02-Eomer (The Lord Of The Rings): as mentioned before, the first thing I ever saw of him. The only thing I can remember is the scene from, I think, "The Two Towers", when he and the Riders of Rohan arrive at Helm's Deep just in time to aid in defeating Saruman's Uruk-hai army.

03-Black Hat (Priest): hands down, my favorite in this set, together with "Bones" McCoy. The film itself is, nicely put, below average, but Karl as Black Hat, a vampire, is just awesome.

04-Agent William Cooper (R.E.D.): could have been a great role, but sadly, there was simply not enough space (and time) to develop his character further. Sure, there's some info about him, but it feels like scratching only on the surface. And given the fact that his character didn't make it into the sequel, it leaves you somehow unsatisfied.

05-Gaius Julius Caesar (Xena The Warrior Princess)

06-Ghost (Pathfinder)

07-Lord Vaako (The Chronicles Of Riddick): have seen the first movie, but can't remember his character for the life of me ;)

08-Vincent Stevens (The Loft)

09-Cupid (Hercules The Legendary Journeys/Xena)

10-Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy (Star Trek AOS): When the first movie came out, I didn't really pay attention to it. I hardly knew any of the cast, and I was (and still am) a TNG fan. Fast forward to some point later, and the movie is aired on TV. Bam! I, more or less, fell in love with his portrayal of the iconic doctor, and while I haven't seen any of the old episodes (for comparison), I like to think that Karl does a terrific job in both keeping up the legacy of DeForest Kelley and adding new layers to the character.

you're welcome, hun! I have several pics of him with a radiant smile, and it's hands down his most attractive feature, at least in my opinion. But the one I used for "center" is definitely my favorite.
He's just too cute for words, and he can be all manly and macho but look at the adorable!
I had the same thing - it took me years to realize that I saw this guys in so many movies!

Your set is again super lovely!
Monochrome is great - I have to admit that this one of the themes I always have hard times with. The picture in look up is just awwwwwwww. Pretty great choice, hun.
thank you, hun! *hugs*

Look up took me so long to find it - I had it sitting on my USB drive, but somehow I didn't see it until the last sweep. Don't know exactly what they are doing right here (he's with Simon Pegg in this interview), but it's just too cute (as are all of these interviews - so much fun with them all!)

Monochrome - yeah, not my favorite theme either. But thankfully, Pixlr is somewhat helpful, as they have a whole effect category for that.
Monochrome - yeah, not my favorite theme either.
This and silhouette will always kill me! I never manage to get something good done when these themes plop up.
Oooo thanks for the tip to come here! What a treasure trove of Karl pics and info. There's another film you mention that I haven't seen - Priest. This will be going on my watch list, too! Thanks so much :)
I've just found that both Priest and The Loft are on Amazon Prime, whoopee! I'll let you know when I've seen them, thanks again :)
